Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,

As this is our final newsletter for 2024, I have spent time this week during my commute reflecting on the year that has been at St Gabriel’s.

We have had a very successful year with providing a number of opportunities for the students over the year.  Our enrolments were at capacity in many of the year levels and our students performed well in many academic areas.

Our children have celebrated much success in the sporting arena this year. We have had a number of children represent the school at State level in: swimming, cross country, athletics and basketball.  A big thank you to Mrs Aitken for her work and support with much of the organisation and attendance at these events.

For the first time this year our students participated in ‘The Big Sing’ along with many other schools across the Latrobe Valley.  A big thank you to Miss Grumley for her time and commitment to rehearsing our students to be a part of this initiative.

As you will be aware there are some staffing changes for 2025 and while we farewell some familiar faces from the team we look forward to welcoming some new faces.  We wish Mrs Gaudiano, Ms Quinn, Mrs Fahey, Mrs MacDougall, Mrs Rodda, Miss Castello and Mrs Holt all the very best in the next chapter of their lives.  We welcome back Mrs Pearson, Mrs Jones, Mrs Smith, Mrs Read and Mrs Mainella for 2025.  We also welcome to the St Gabe’s team: Mr Hales, Miss Reid and Miss Lind.

Finally I would like to acknowledge and thank the following families for their time at St Gabriel’s as they now move on to the next chapter of their lives:

Cook, Evans, Frankland, Kerr, Monument, Murdoch, Stone, Watts, Weston, Ashton, Beveridge, Byrne, Canty, Down, Ekhayeme, Falano, Jaisraj, Kerr, Mastwyk, Mitchell, Vella, Zalesiak, Ayres, Clark, Davis, Doble, Galea, Hanratty, Humphrey, Leech, Magaldi, Ryan, Simmons, Van Galen and Vitale.  A number of these families are finishing up after a long association with St Gabriel’s and we are very grateful for the time and commitment you have put into supporting our school.

On behalf of the staff of St Gabriel’s, I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.  Have a safe holiday and we look forward to welcoming you all back at the end of January.
