I would like to thank Troy Villani for opening the shed at the Traralgon little Athletics club and setting up the events for the day and David Bonnici and Sarah Cooper who also assisted in setting up the Gazebos and events for the day. I would like to congratulate all the students who competed on the day as they gave it their all for their respective house teams. The students displayed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship on the day and all parents should feel very proud of their children. I would like to congratulate all the House Captains on preparing wonderful chants for their house teams. A special congratulations to the winning house team -Bridgid who have won the athletics carnival for the second year in a row.  I would like to thank all the senior staff at St Gabriel’s for preparing the students for the carnival and encouraging them to have a go and try their best. Our school is very lucky to have such a caring and supportive staff. Finally I would like to thank Dale Aust who assisted on the day as starting marshall.

Athletics Championship - District Tuesday 22nd March

Last Tuesday the 22nd of March 70 students from St Gabriel's competed in the Traralgon District Primary School Athletic Championship. The students enjoyed the day of competition in warm sunny conditions. The first events started at 8.30am in the morning with the boys and girls 1500m and the students in attendance were in full voice as they were at the end of the carnival cheering on the relay teams. As the carnival finished the students had to leave Harold Preston Park to catch the bus to school. Luckily a few students were still in attendance to collect the winning shield on the day. I would like to congratulate all the students who competed on the day and their outstanding achievement in winning the carnival and again showing great sportsmanship. A special thank you to Miss Johnson, Mrs Collins and Miss Hayes for supervising the students on the day. Again I would like to thank all our parents who supported and encouraged the students of St Gabriel’s on the day.
