Dear Parents, Guardians and Carer’s
This week I am lucky enough to be writing the newsletter while attending Grade 5 camp at the Phillip Island Adventure Camp. It is night one and although it is very cold and at times wet we have all had a great first day. Mrs Baccega did end up very wet after the 2nd group of canoe students were offered 20 points for getting her wet. We will include some camp photos later in the newsletter.
Last Friday on our school closure day, staff travelled to Melbourne and visited the Jewish museum in St Kilda. It was a very informative day where we learnt about the history of Jewish religion and how it has transformed to the current day. We had a talk from Mr Paul Forgasz about Jesus as a Jew before visiting a synagogue. The museum very kindly treated us to traditional sweet treats for morning tea and a delicious lunch.
Catholic Education Week starts next Friday 27th May with the theme "Go out into the world and spread the Good News to all creation". Catholic Education Week will run until Friday 3rd June. We will be hosting some special events during this week so please stay tuned to PAM emails for updates.
Our Confirmation candidates will celebrate receiving this sacrament on Friday 3rd June at either 4.30pm or 6.30pm at St Michael’s Church. Please keep them in your prayers during this special time of their faith journey.
A reminder that as of Monday 23rd May the recommended Rapid Antigen Testing is no longer a requirement. We do ask that if your child is unwell with any cold and flu-like symptoms that you keep them at home. Test kits will still be available from the school should you require them if children are household contacts or become symptomatic. If your children are household contacts please ensure you notify the school and note they will be required to do a RAT each day for 5 days and if in grade 3-6 wear a face mask whilst indoors at school.
Have you checked out our website lately? We are currently in the process of updating it and providing regular information on it. We have added a new tab: Parent Information where you can find the links to PAM, CDFpay & School TV. If you click on the school calendar link on the home page you will be able to see all of the upcoming events for the year.
Finally a big congratulations to all our year 3 and 5 students who have completed their NAPLAN test over the past 2 weeks. It was the first time for all of these students as the year 5’s were unable to complete them in 2020 when they were year 3’s.
Kind Regards
Michelle
