Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
On Tuesday 5th March we held our school athletics carnival at Harold Preston Park. Although the day was a warm one, it was lovely to see so many children participate with such enthusiasm. A huge thank you to Mrs Brooke Aitken & Mrs Lee McPherson for their amazing effort in coordinating the day. Also the day would not be possible without the support of all our teaching and non teaching staff who assisted in so many different roles on the day.
Finally, days like this cannot occur without the help from parents and we thank those who assisted us throughout the day.
We very quickly moved from the track on Tuesday to the swimming pool on Wednesday. Congratulations to our 22 swimmers who represented us at GRAC in the division swimming competition. We have a number of students who have won their way through to the Regional event to be held in Sale on Thursday 14th March.
Next Wednesday 13th March we begin NAPLAN for Year 3 and 5 students. It is important that all children are in attendance, so where possible, please refrain from booking appointments or arriving late to school on these days. Please refer to the email sent to Year 3 & 5 families for the timetable.
Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held on Monday 18th & Tuesday 19th March after school. Please book via your PAM account.
Finally, I hope you all have a lovely long weekend. Remember there is no school on Monday 11th March due to the Labour Day Public Holiday and there is a school closure day on Friday 15th March as staff will be attending a professional development day with Father Rob Galea.
Please ensure all school photo envelopes are returned to your classroom by Monday 18th March.
Year 5 Blue have been practising the value of gratitude: what this looks like, sounds like and how it feels to us when we express gratitude.
We wrote statements of actions that we can take on to make gratitude part of our daily lives.
The statments have been attached to our pencil cups so we can be regularly reminded of them. Here are a few:

CHILD SAFETY & WELLBEING
St. Gabriel's Primary School is a child safe school. We are committed to embedding a culture of Child Safety, adhering to the Victorian Child Safe Standards: Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises (Ministeral Order No. 1359).
We believe that ensuring the safety of the students in our care is an integral part of who we are as a Catholic faith community. The school acts in accordance with the Ministerial Order through policies, procedures, measures and practices, staff training and, ultimately, through the strategies used in working with the students and families within our school community.
We continue to maintain and develop a safe and supportive learning environment where staff are focused on engaging students in meaningful, relevant and challenging learning experiences.
If at any time you have any issues or concerns you feel you need to raise please contact our Principal: Michelle Charlton or our Child Safety Officers: Alison Phillips or Jo Quinn on 5174 5515.
