Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
What a busy two weeks we have had since our last newsletter.
All students enjoyed an extremely fun incursion on Monday 29th July with KABOOM hosting our very own St Gabriel’s Olympic Games, which even included a torch relay and opening ceremony. Students represented a country in mixed age groups. The winning country was Canada.
Congratulations to our Year 6 students who ran the activities and led their countries. You were all awesome.
Congratulations to our boys soccer team who competed in the Regional Competition on Wednesday 31st July. The boys played extremely well and finished runners up on the day. Thank you to all staff and parents who assisted in the 3 levels of competition, it is very much appreciated.
We had some very old students arrive at school last Thursday. Many of them with grey hair, wrinkles and walking sticks. Our Foundation students celebrated 100 days of school. If you haven’t seen the video on our Facebook page it is well worth a look and laugh.
Our Book Fair will begin next week on Monday 12th August. It will run for 2 weeks and will conclude on Friday 23rd August which will also be our Book Week Dress Up Day. The theme this year is “Reading is Magic”. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite character, book or something related to the theme. We will host a book week parade on Friday morning at 9am. Further details will be communicated closer to the date.

Here is a beautiful example of one of our Resilience Project journals. The focus of the learning is about encouraging. Using the template of the hand, this child has written five ways he can be encouraging towards others.
We know it works. We see and hear it often.
TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT & SAFETY
Parents are asked to drive carefully and observe the following traffic arrangements:
- The turning circle at the end of Rangeview Drive is a designated “no standing” zone.
- The school car park is used for staff cars only.
- Where parents stop on the south side of Rangeview Drive it is asked that children walk around the cul-de-sac rather than crossing the busy road.
- Parents utilising the drop off/pick up area must turn in the cul-de-sac and enter the carpark at 10kph.
- Parents are not to leave their cars whilst dropping children off in the drop off zone.
- Children are to enter and exit the cars from the footpath.
- No persons are permitted to walk across the carpark.
Key points to consider:
- If your child is not present at pick up time, then you will need to leave and come back. It is a NO STANDING ZONE
- If traffic is banked up in the drop off/pick up, then use the through lane (as shown on the map) in the carpark to keep traffic moving in Rangeview Drive.
- Parents must notify the school if children are to be collected by people other than immediate family.
